Brass Instruments

We service and repair all brass instruments. This includes Trumpet, Cornet, Trombone, Tenor Horn, Baritone, Euphonium, French Horn, Fleugal Horn and Tuba.

Whether piston valves or rotary valves, brass laquered or silver instruments.

Servicing becomes required as valve felts, bumper corks, water-key corks or other materials internal or external start to show wear. This causes valves in particular to mis-align and notes begin to be difficult to pitch.

Repairs to brass instruments are varied and particular to each instrument as they occur. Dents, even if they are small, should not be ignored as they add up to cause split notes and intonation problems. Tuning slide ease of movement is important to staying in tune and also overall instrument cleanliness.

Each instrument receives a playing test on completion of a service or repair to check that it is in the best possible playing condition.

Trumpet; Guide Price

Each service is priced individually depending on how much work is required up to a maximum £60. A normal service will include Cleaning and re-oiling all valves, Cleaning valve casings internally, Check and replace valve felts as required, Clean and re-grease Tuning Slides as required, Check and replace water-key cork as required, Check all valve springs and replace as required. Check and clean lead pipe as required.

All materials are included.

Cornet; Guide Price

Each service is priced individually depending on how much work is required up to a maximum £60. A normal service will be similar to the above trumpet . All materials are included.

Trombone; Guide Price

Each service is priced individually depending on how much work is require up to a maximum £50. A normal service will include Complete cleaning internally and externally, Re-greasing of the hand-slide, Check and replace hand-slide bumper felt as required, Clean and re-grease Main Tuning Slide Check and replace water-key cork as required.

All materials are included.

French Horn; Guide Price

Each service is priced individually depending on how much work is required up to a maximum £70.

A normal service will include Clean and re-oil all valves, Replace valve stop corks/re-align valves as required, Re-string all valves as required, Clean and re-grease all tuning slides.

All materials are included.

Repair prces are quoted upon assessment of each instrument.
